An applicant must be under 35 years of age and a graduate of a college or teacher training college and must have at least five years of active experience as a teacher in a primary, secondary or teacher training college in their country. (Please note that college and university teachers currently in active service are not considered for this scholarship). If the candidates don’t have sufficient command of Japanese, they may attend the Japanese Course for Graduates, a 6-month Intensive Japanese Course offered by the Organization for International Collaboration. They may also continue with their study of Japanese if necessary after completing the course. At the same time, they are required to receive training on school management, teaching methodology, and teaching in their field under the guidance of their academic advisor. They are also required to do observations and teacher training at local schools. At the end of the course, they are required to write a paper and to make a presentation. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course.
